About Curtis Berean Bible Church

Curtis Berean Bible Church exists to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ through the faithful proclamation of God's Word, meaningful fellowship, prayer, evangelism, and service.
We are a Bible-centered church affiliated with the Berean Fellowship of Churches and committed to the authority and sufficiency of Scripture. We are seeking a Lead Pastor who will faithfully preach God's Word, shepherd His people, equip believers for ministry, and partner with our Elder Board in advancing the mission of the church.

Position Summary

The Lead Pastor will glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by faithfully shepherding the people of Curtis Berean Bible Church through the ministry of the Word, prayer, leadership development, and spiritual oversight in partnership with the Elder Board.
The Lead Pastor serves as one of a plurality of elders and is accountable to the Elder Board.

primary responsibilities
 

Preaching and Teaching

The Lead Pastor will devote himself primarily to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4).

Responsibilities include:

• Diligent study of Scripture.

• Primarily expository preaching through books of the Bible.

• Christ-centered and doctrinally sound teaching in other ministry settings as appropriate.

• Building up the body of Christ through biblical instruction that promotes spiritual maturity, unity, and faithful discipleship (Ephesians 4:11–13).

Equipping and Leadership Development

The Lead Pastor is called to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12).

He will:

• Promote and model biblical discipleship.

• Identify, mentor, and develop future leaders, including elders, deacons, and ministry leaders.

• Encourage the multiplication of ministry responsibility throughout the congregation.

• Foster a culture of spiritual growth, service, and accountability.

• Intentionally invest in faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).

Shepherding and Pastoral Care

As an undershepherd of Christ, the Lead Pastor will lovingly care for the flock entrusted to him (1 Peter 5:1–3).

Responsibilities include:

• Providing biblical counsel as appropriate, with outside referrals when needed.

• Visiting the sick, shut-ins, and hospitalized as is reasonably possible.

• Maintaining appropriate availability to the congregation throughout the week.

• Officiating weddings and funerals as appropriate.

• Partnering with fellow elders to ensure pastoral care responsibilities remain balanced and sustainable.

Vision and Spiritual Leadership

The Lead Pastor will work alongside the Elder Board to provide spiritual leadership and direction for the church (Ephesians 4:15–16).

He will:

• Help clarify and communicate a biblical vision for ministry.

• Lead by example in faith, humility, and integrity.

• Encourage evangelism and outreach within the church and surrounding community.

• Provide oversight of ministry direction while appropriately delegating administrative and operational responsibilities.

• Participate actively in the Berean Fellowship of Churches for mutual encouragement, accountability, and partnership in ministry (Proverbs 27:17).

Personal Character and Example

The Lead Pastor must model godly character in both public and private life (Titus 1:6–9).

He will:

• Maintain a consistent and growing walk with the Lord.

• Devote regular time to prayer and personal study.

• Shepherd his own household well.

• Cultivate a positive testimony within the church and broader community.

Administrative Participation

The Lead Pastor will:

• Participate in Elder Board meetings and leadership planning.

• Contribute to budgeting and ministry planning in cooperation with church leadership.

• Encourage faithful stewardship of church facilities and resources.

• Delegate operational responsibilities when appropriate.

Qualifications

The Lead Pastor must:

• Be an evangelical believer with a personal saving faith in Jesus Christ.

• Have been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• Affirm the Statement of Faith of both the Berean Fellowship of Churches and Curtis Berean Bible Church.

• Meet the biblical qualifications of an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

• Possess formal biblical and theological training (Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred).

Monthly

• Gross Salary: $4,815.25

• Parsonage Value: $800

• Gas (Heating): $100

• Electricity and Water: $200

Accountability

​The Lead Pastor serves as a member of the Elder Board and is accountable to the Elder Board of Curtis Berean Bible Church. He will minister within a plurality-of-elders model and work collaboratively with fellow elders in the shepherding and governance of the church.
